Honest answers to the questions we hear most often — from choosing the right ramp and sizing to costs, warranty, and funding options.
MIOR ramps are now available. Delivery takes approximately 1–2 weeks depending on configuration. Request a quote or order directly through our calculator.

For a fixed location at home — front door, back door, balcony — the MIOR ROLL is the most popular choice: roll-up, no installation required, ready to use immediately. Need to transport the ramp by car? The FOLD is more compact and lighter to carry. Need a vehicle permanently adapted? The DRIVE model is the right choice. Not sure? Get in touch — we'll help you find the right solution in a short conversation.
The MIOR ROLL rolls up vertically like a mat. Ideal for longer lengths (up to 400 cm) and compact storage. Adapts to uneven surfaces. The MIOR FOLD folds in the middle and is stiffer, making it easier to carry in a car. ROLL is best for a fixed location (home, practice, shop). FOLD is best for mobile use (home care, taxis, holidays). Both carry 400 kg and are suitable for electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
Yes. All MIOR ramps carry 400 kg — more than enough for heavy mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs. The 6082-T6 aluminium frame is calculated according to Eurocode load standards. The 8 cm raised side edges and anti-slip profile ensure wheels don't roll off the ramp, even in wet weather.
Absolutely. A ramp designed for a 150 kg wheelchair naturally works for a pushchair, walker, or shopping trolley too. The MIOR ROLL is 80 cm wide — wide enough for all common aids. Many of our customers use their ramp for multiple purposes.
Measure the height of your threshold or step in centimetres. Multiply by 12 — that gives the minimum length in centimetres. This is the 1:12 guideline used for safe accessibility. Example: a 25 cm threshold → minimum 300 cm ramp. For a manual wheelchair or light scooter, a shorter length (1:10 or 1:8) may suffice, but always discuss this with the user. Our WEXAR measurement app calculates the recommended length automatically based on your situation — free, with your smartphone.
The standard width of 80 cm suits most wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Common wheelchairs are 60-70 cm wide; an 80 cm ramp provides sufficient margin on both sides. For extra-wide scooters or duo wheelchairs, wider custom versions are available. Measure the width of your wheelchair (including wheels) and add 10 cm — that's your minimum ramp width.
The 1:12 guideline means: for every centimetre of height difference, you need 12 centimetres of ramp length. This is the standard accessibility norm used across Europe. It's not a legal requirement for private use, but it's the safest and most comfortable ratio — especially for electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters. A steeper slope (e.g. 1:8) may work for low thresholds and lighter users, but we advise against it without consultation.
Yes. The MIOR ROLL is designed for use without drilling, screws, or permanent attachment. Ideal for rental properties, listed buildings, or temporary situations. The ramp stays in place through its own weight (8.2 kg per linear metre) and the anti-slip contact profile. For longer ramps (above 220 cm), we recommend optional support legs for extra stability. Both ROLL and FOLD can be used without fixed mounting.
Yes. MIOR ramps are made from 6082-T6 aluminium — an alloy grade that naturally doesn't rust. With corrosion-resistant treatment, the material is suitable for year-round outdoor use: rain, snow, frost, sun. The anti-slip surface remains effective in wet weather. Maintenance is minimal: cleaning twice a year with water and mild soap is sufficient.
ROLL and FOLD models require no installation — roll out or unfold and done. Literally seconds. No tools or technical knowledge needed. The DRIVE model (for vehicles) is permanently attached to floor rails and requires professional installation. CUSTOM modular systems are installed by experienced fitters. For standard home use: unpack, lay down, use.
MIOR ramps start from €549 for the ROLL (roll-up, 80 cm wide). Foldable models (FOLD) start from €499. The DRIVE vehicle model starts at €1,299. Exact prices depend on length, width, and configuration. Use our ramp calculator for an instant custom price indication. All listed prices are excluding VAT.
Delivery time is approximately 1–2 weeks after order, depending on configuration and demand. Each ramp is made to measure — we don't stock standard sizes, because every situation is different. After ordering, you receive a confirmation with expected delivery date. Transport costs are tailored to dimensions and destination; an exact transport quote is included in your offer.
Directly via our website mioramps.nl — through the ramp calculator or contact form. We deliver throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. For custom work, large orders (care institutions, municipalities), or specific questions: get in touch with our team for personal consultation. MIOR is a Dutch B.V. — you buy directly from the manufacturer, without intermediaries.
All MIOR ramps come with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty on material and construction defects. This covers manufacturing defects, weld seam cracks, and structural defects under normal use. Not covered: normal wear and tear, overloading, cosmetic damage, or incorrect installation. After the warranty period, we offer maintenance and repair service at cost price. Spare parts are available on request.
6082-T6 is a structural-grade aluminium used in aerospace and marine engineering — not the thin sheet material found in cheaper ramps. It offers the ideal combination of strength, light weight, and corrosion resistance. MIOR calculates every frame according to Eurocode load standards. The result: a ramp that carries 400 kg, doesn't flex, doesn't rust, and lasts for years of daily use.
Support options vary by country and municipality. Contact your local authority for details.
Depending on your country and region, various funding or reimbursement options may be available for wheelchair ramps as home adaptations or accessibility equipment: • United States: Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waivers, state-level disability grants, the ADA compliance assistance programme, and some Medicare Advantage plans may cover accessibility modifications. Contact your state's Medicaid office or an independent living center for guidance. • Netherlands: The Wmo (Social Support Act) offers reimbursement for home adaptations including wheelchair ramps. • Germany: The Pflegekasse (long-term care insurance) may subsidise home modifications. • United Kingdom: Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) may apply. MIOR provides the required quotes and technical documentation for any application, regardless of country.
While the exact process varies by country and municipality, the general steps are: 1) Contact your local authority, social support desk, or insurance provider. 2) A needs assessment is carried out. 3) A decision is made on funding. 4) Upon approval, you choose a supplier or receive a personal budget. MIOR can provide a free measurement and detailed quote to support your application. For rental properties, also consult your landlord — some housing associations have their own arrangements.
MIOR does not currently offer a rental service. However, some municipalities and independent living programs provide ramps on loan — at no purchase cost. Home care shops sometimes rent ramps for short periods (events, holidays). For long-term daily use, purchasing is almost always more cost-effective. MIOR ramps are built for years of intensive use — the material (6082-T6 aluminium) is specifically chosen for that purpose.
WEXAR is our free measurement app that lets you measure the height difference at your threshold using your smartphone. You take a few photos, the app analyses the situation, and provides advice on the required ramp length. You can use the result directly for your order or funding application. No appointment needed, no waiting — you measure when it suits you.
The WEXAR measurement provides an accurate indication that is directly usable for an order in most cases. For complex situations (multiple height differences, angles, limited space), we recommend getting in touch for personal advice. We'll review together whether the WEXAR measurement is sufficient or whether an additional assessment is needed. Better to double-check once before ordering than to correct afterwards.
Measure the height difference at your threshold for free with the WEXAR app — at your own time, with your own smartphone.
